MST och Politiken

Fabya Reis var under många år ansvarig på MST:s sekretariat i Bahia. Nu har hon doktorerat med en avhandling om MST och politiken. Förut var MST hårda motståndare till att ledarna i rörelsen skulle kandidera politiskt. Det är nu ändrat och det började i Bahia. I senaste kommunvalet avgick nästan hela delstatsstyrelsen för att kandidera till olika poster.
Fabya menar att rörelsen nu kommit fram till att det inte räcker med ockupationer, undervisning oc aktioner. Det krävs också att man deltar i politiken. Hon menar att detta inte inneburit att MST låtit sig koopeteras eller att aktionerna blivit färre Däremot understryker hon att det är viktigt att bibehålla en balans, parlamentariker måste underordna sig rörelsen och inte agera för mycket enligt eget huvud
