Brev till det brasilianska folket

The "Letter to the Brazilian people" was written after an encounter held in Sarzedo (MG) and denounces the attacks by the government of Jair Bolsonaro (no party) on the sovereignty of the people, and highlighting that the government's proposal of land regularization, according to the movement, "would hand over 70 million hectares of public land, especially in the Amazon, to those who deforested, destroyed, evaded taxes, and assassinated people."
"Bolsonaro legitimizes the actions of the thugs of agribusiness, authorizes extermination, clears the forests and destroys biodiversity. All in order to expand the domain of agriculture, mining and the profits of the transnational companies. To defend the Amazon is to defend Brazil, the people, their territories, life and the environment."
In the text, the MST affirms its mission with the Agrarian Reform, against the removal of the rights of the Brazilian people, in defense of the environment and of national sovereignty and positions itself alongside the "just struggle of the people for their liberation and for a life without the perverse logic of accumulation of agribusiness and of the mining sector."

From the rebel lands of Minas Gerais, and in solidarity with the families of the victims of Vale in Mariana and Brumadinho, the National Board of the Landless Workers' Movement, that met in January 2020, reaffirms its commitment with popular organization, the struggle for Agrarian Reform and social transformation.
We witnessed here in these lands the aggression of capital to natural resources and the conditions of life of the people, generating the death of people, rivers, plants, and all biodiversity, the tolls of its uncontrollable profit. We are here to affirm the just struggle of the people for their freedom and for a life without the perverse logic of agribusiness and the mining sector.
Capital, in profound crisis, imposes on the people of the world a model of unemployment, hunger, precarious work, violence, extermination, privatization, where rights are taken away, the environment destroyed, expropriation, looting natural and strategic resources. It promotes wars of all types and threatens human existence, where it be for its destructive project to nature, but also with its ultraliberal agenda that accentuates social inequality and increases the privileges of the dominant class.
This project of death is neofascist, it hates democracy and participation of the people. It produces extreme right-wing governments and States that serve the interests of the wealthiest. It encourages coups, it destabilizes economies and incites social chaos.
In Brazil, the Bolsonaro government hands the country over to the interests of the United States, our land to foreigners and breaking the national economy in detriment of capital. It attacks the sovereignty of the people and natural resources. Bolsonaro is the manager of a project of power of the elites, he acts with the tutelage of the military, in collusion with a significant part of the judiciary and of the congress, and governs with the militias and the corrupt.
He imposes fear, he spits on the Constitution and practices State terrorism agains the people, especially Indigenous people, Black people, women and LGBT people.
In the countryside, he promotes the regularization of the crime of land-grabbing and he wants to hand over 70 million hectares of public land, especially in the Amazon, to those who deforested, destroyed, evaded taxes, and assassinated people. He seeks to reward whoever declares themselves owner of the land stolen from the Brazilian people.
Bolsonaro legitimizes the actions of the thugs of agribusiness, authorizes extermination, clears the forests and destroys biodiversity. All in order to expand the domain of agriculture, mining and the profits of the transnational companies. Defending the Amazon is to defend Brazil, the people, their territories, life and the environment.
Our duty is to act on the contradictions of this project of the elite, since they do not have a solution to the principal problems that affect the Brazilian people. We should mobilize in the face of the dismantling of social, labor and pension rights; in the face of generalized violence, persecution and assassinations of social leaders. We should be outraged in response to the poisoning en masse of the people through food and water, promoted by agribusiness.
We commit ourselves to occupy the large landholdings in the countryside and in the cities; to struggle for social rights and not permit setbacks in our conquests. We are on our feet and ready to contribute to the legitimate uprising of the masses.
We reaffirm our commitment with the land, with life, to guaranteeing healthy food for all people. We defend a popular project for Brazil. We will continue in the struggle in defense of National and People's sovereignty.
We stand in solidarity with all of the workers in struggle across the world. We reject coups and interventions. We defend the legitimate sovereignty of the people.
